In the fall of 2011, when Cody Barton first heard of Vemma, he was a 17-year-old high school student, flipping burgers at a local fast food restaurant. “While I was working at McDonalds, I realized I didn’t want to work anywhere for an hourly wage again,” says Cody. “I started Vemma as a customer after my sister gave me Verve, and I fell in love with the product. Then I found Alex Morton’s Facebook and met him and Marty Wewerka and got started.”
Through diligent, consistent effort, Cody created an international organization of high achievers and altered the course of his life. “When I started Vemma, I was working two part-time jobs — 35 hours a week at McDonalds and then doing sign spinning on street corners for six-hour shifts in the hot Arizona sun. Even with all that, I was barely making any money,” says Cody. “Vemma’s changed my lifestyle completely. Not only do I have a good income, but I also have the time freedom to do whatever I want, whenever I want. Nothing can match that.”*
Fast forward three years and Cody is now a Star Presidential with Vemma and recently released a success book titled, This Is It: It’s Never Too Late, But Never Too Early To Build Your Dreams.
For Cody Barton, writing a book was a goal he always wanted to accomplish. “I knew that there was no other profession that I wanted to pursue. I always wanted to become a speaker and write a book, and Vemma provided the vehicle to reach my dreams.”
There are some parallels between the path Cody took writing the book and how he’s become successful with Vemma. “The book was a long journey, taking nearly a year to finish. I learned a lot about myself and how people work by saying the right or wrong things, and how people react. I took time, I wasn’t a fast Vemma success story, but it’s not about that, it’s about getting where you want to go no matter how long it takes you.”

“The YPR, Young Professional Revolution, re-brand was long needed, and we probably should have done it a while ago,” says Cody. “The hard thing about it is it has to be company-wide and all young people need to get on board. Going forward, when I’m doing events, I’ll be wearing at minimum a collared shirt. It’s more than that, though. The hype needs to be turned down, and the focus on long-term needs to get turned up. The hype game is over with, it only lasts so long. Vemma is for real; this is a business.”
